Thoughts from the Pastor...

We are a Community who firmly believes in God's word. Come journey with us.

Welcome to Peace Lutheran, where I serve as pastor of this vibrant congregation.  Our Christian family is large enough to offer you and your children great worship opportunities, fellowship and education, yet small enough to care for you personally with the love of Christ that passes all understanding.

Prior to becoming a pastor, I taught history (World, Christian, American and US Constitution) at Niagara University in New York.  While there I also served with the fire service, which included being called up as a counselor and chaplain at the World Trade Center after the events of 9/11.   Since receiving my Masters of Divinity, I have served churches in New York, Minnesota, South Dakota, and am now blessed to serve here in Sioux Center IA.

I am married to MaryAnne Loefke, a native of this area and retired pastor who does supply preaching and leads Bible studies.  MaryAnne enjoys kayaking and working in her gardens.  Together we enjoy camping and traveling. We are parents to two children and a baby grandson.

I am an avid student of theology and history as they relate to events in our nation and around the world.  The congregation knows well my enthusiasm for building and restoring classic cars.  This hobby has provided me with friends both locally and from around the area who are also car enthusiasts.

Please join us for worship Sundays at 10:15 AM.  I would love to meet you personally.  May God’s peace be with you.

The Reverend William Lee Nelson-Loefke
